On November 16 and 17, on the occasion of the 24-month course of the project, the MAREWIND consortium held a general meeting to share the results and progress obtained in recent months. In this case, the partners were met in person, for the first time in the project, at Lurederra – Tecnan facilities in Los Arcos.
The meeting reflected the advances that are being developed in each one of the stipulated activities, including all the technologies to improve the durability of the off shore wind structures, it means protective coatings, modified concretes and reinforced polymers. The meeting could qualify as very productive thanks to the participation of all the partners involved.
Tecnan for its side, shared with the partners the new obtained advances in the last months related to the scalability process of the production of functional coatings based on nanotechnology, as well as the adjustment process of the application protocol, both by spraying or immersion. The step forward for the validation of these coatings was noted showing relevant test data. For example, the antifouling coating, has presented high repellence properties against diverse organisms, under conditions of complete marine immersion, without the use of biocides.
The point where MAREWIND is located now, is focused on going a step further and approach to real situations related to the offshore structure,This step to bigger scale was well noted in the development of the activities of the partners involved, stablishing various plans for defining final demonstrative activities in the different selected facilities.
