Tecnan has participated in INNOVIP project, which is focused on the development of innovative VIP (Vacuum Insulation Panels) products, improving their thermal performance over the entire lifetime by at least 25 % and making VIPs adjustable, mountable and machinable.
Precisely, one of the most innovative points of this project is the application of different functional nanocoatings on the cover layers of the panels, which include gypsum, EPS, PU, wood, etc. The target effects achieved by TECNAN, include the photocatalytic removal of VOCs for indoor and outdoor, the combination of antibacterial and hydrophobic effects in the same product, IR barrier and flame retardancy. The mentioned development is the result from a complex research of more than 3 years, within the collaborative framework of the INNOVIP project, funded by the European Commission, where technology centres, universities and companies have worked together, including Lurederra Technology Centre.
More in detail, the activities of Tecnan have been focused on the production, application and validation of the different nanocoatings, which are the responsible of providing the aforementioned innovative functionalities. In fact, the main properties obtained imply EUROCLASS B qualification regarding flame retardancy, 50% of removal of VOCs and 50% reductions in bacterial growth among other effects.
To sum up, considering the excellent performance of each of the nanocoatings, Tecnan will assess the possibility of following the necessary steps to implement the coatings in the market and incorporating them to their wide catalogue of nanoproducts, broadening their range of nanotechnological solutions to fulfil the most specific demands.
